Willie Nickerson

Mr. Willie Ree Nickerson, age 88 of Chapel Hill, NC transitioned into eternal rest on Friday, September 4, 2020, at UNC Hospital Hillsborough Campus, Hillsborough, NC.

On Friday, September 4th, 2020, Willie Ree “Bill” Nickerson passed away peacefully at UNC Hospital of Hillsborough, North Carolina. 

Born March 16th, 1932 in Chatham County, Bill was the sixth born of twelve children to the late Pert Nickerson and Mary A. Nickerson. On June 23rd, 1951, Bill was joined in holy matrimony to Peggie Cotton Nickerson in Chatham County.

His memory will forever be cherished by five daughters: Brenda Webb of Raleigh, NC;  Barbara Nickerson of Efland, NC; Mary Scarborough (Harold) of Chapel Hill, NC; Peggy Evans (Johnny) of Mebane, NC; and Lisa Nickerson of Durham, NC. Five sons, Michael Nickerson (Rhonda) of Hephzibah, GA; Ricky Nickerson (Amber) of Carrboro, NC; Randy Nickerson (Margo) of Chapel Hill, NC; Willie Nickerson of Carrboro, NC; and Tony Nickerson of Chapel Hill, NC. Two siblings, Nellie Carver of Chapel Hill, NC; and Ernest Nickerson of Graham, NC, as well as a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
