William Albert McDougald

William Albert McDougald age 76 of 711 Burgess Circle, Broadway, NC passed on Tuesday, August, 6, 2019 at UNC Hospital. 

Mr. William Albert McDougald was born on April 21, 1943 to the late Paul and Pauline McLean McDougald in Broadway, North Carolina. 

He was educated in Sanford, NC at W.B. Wicker School. He married “the Love of his Life,” Joyce Trapp McDougald and was married for twenty-eight wonderful years. To this union was born one son Sheldon Lewis McDougald.

William joined Paradise A.M.E Zion Church at an early age and later moved his membership to join his wife serving at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Moncure, NC, where he was a faithful member. 

William served in the United States Army as Private First Class overseas in Frankfurt, Germany. 

William worked at GKN for seventeen years and later worked at AutoZone as a commercial driver for eleven years where he retired.

He was a very affectionate and giving person, always giving above and beyond, especially to his mother-in-law, Rebecca, who always asked him “what do you have for me,'' because she knew he was going to give her something.  He was a loving and devoted husband and a great father to his three sons and daughter.

He departed this life on August 6, 2019 at UNC Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC. He was preceded in death by one son, Pierre McDougald. 

He leaves to cherish his precious memory: his devoted wife, Joyce Trapp McDougald of the home; son, William R. McDougald of Sacramento, CA; daughter, Nicole Willoughby (Darryl) of Sacramento, CA; son, Sheldon Lewis McDougald (Latifa) of Broadway, NC; special son, Duane French (Jamie) of Vass, NC; special granddaughter, Kayla French; sisters-in-love: Thelma Baldwin, Rebecca Upchurch, Mary Douglas (Floyd), Hazel Johnson (O.C.), Julia Palmer (James); twenty-one grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
