William Farrow Obituary

William Anderson Farrow, age 65 of Linwood, NC (formerly of Sanford, NC) passed on March 4, 2019 at Glen A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury, NC

William Anderson Farrow was born on June 11, 1953 to Robert Anderson Farrow and Sarah Margaret Womack Farrow in Sanford, North Carolina. He graduated from Sanford Central High School in 1971. William died peacefully on March 4, 2019 at the age of 65.

William was the eldest of ten and always looked out for his younger siblings, providing them many words of spiritual encouragement and brotherly advice. He had a deep love for Jehovah and all his righteous ways. As a result of that love, William dedicated his life to Jehovah on July 3, 1970. He often commented on doing all he could to bring praise and honor to Jehovah. William always put Jehovah’s Kingdom first in his life and looked forward to the promised new world of an earthly paradise.

For many years William had the privilege of serving as a Congregation Elder. He served in several areas including Sanford, Asheboro, Raleigh, and Lexington, NC as well as Houston, TX. William also enjoyed many years of service as a Volunteer Cook on multiple RBC Kingdom Hall construction projects in North Carolina and Texas.

When William met Gloria, he told his mom “I found that girl”. On March 11, 1972, the two wed and from this union, they had two sons. William truly loved being around family. William not only enjoyed being a father to their two sons but also a spiritual father to many. He always offered a listening ear and a warm hug. He provided a good balance of spiritual love and practical wisdom to all those whom William and Gloria called their children.

Several things really brought William joy and happiness, among those was a real passion for cooking. He thoroughly enjoyed preparing family dinners, inviting friends over for a true home cooked meal, and baking scrumptious treats. He was well known for annually making delicious cheesecakes and sweet potato pies…and every year he had a long waiting list! Anyone who knew William well, knew his favorite past times included collecting his prized Coca-Cola memorabilia and watching a good Sci-Fi movie. Some might even call him a Sci-Fi Enthusiast...Star Wars was his favorite of all time. William’s favorite private time was walking on a sandy beach with Gloria, while listening to the waves crash against the shore.

Through the years, many have affectionately known William as “Sweet William”, “Pretty Boy Floyd”, “Big Brother”, “Big Brown Sugar Bear”, “Papa”, “Poppi”, “My Firstborn” and “The Love of My Life”. Then on occasions when playfully harassing Gloria’s co-workers, he was called “Bad Andy”. William has truly touched many lives and will be dearly missed.

William was preceded in death by his father, Robert Farrow; his sister, Sandra Kennedy; and his brother, Alvin Farrow.

Those left to cherish his memory: His loving wife of 47 years, Gloria Farrow; his mother, Sarah Farrow Bynum; his two sons, Weslyn LaMonte’ Farrow (LaKesha); and Wendell D’Eric Farrow (Nichole); his 4 grandchildren, Tiana, Maya, Donovan and Amani; His siblings, Danny Farrow (Patricia), Michael Farrow (Sandra), Calvin Farrow, Patricia Floyd (Isaac), Monica Hall (William), Jacqueline Faison (Columbus), and Johnny Farrow (Erika), a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, as well as many spiritual sons and daughters.
