William Everette Obituary

Mr. William Rodley "Margo" Everette, age 66 of 106 13th Street, Sanford, NC transitioned into eternal rest on Monday, July 25, 2022 at his residence in Sanford, NC.

William Rodley “Margo” Everette was born on August 9, 1955, in Southern Pines, North Carolina. He transitioned the morning of Monday, July 25, 2022, at his home in Sanford, NC surrounded by loved ones.

Margo, or Papa, as he was affectionately known, was preceded in death by his late mother, Mrs. Shirley Ingram Person and brother Darrell Wilson. Margo was the eldest of five siblings.
Margo was a deejay at a local radio station before becoming a network technician for the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, in which he worked for over 20 years. As a hobby, Papa deejayed for local parties, weddings, church functions, and family events. He was well known throughout the community for his musical talents and skills. Margo had an infectious personality, and he was genuinely a kind-hearted, caring, and loving man. There was no such thing as a stranger to him.

In March of 1998, Margo met the love of his life, Linda, and they decided to spend forever after together. They tied the knot on April 28, 2001, and had a beautiful union that their children looked up to and admired. Papa was adored by all his grandchildren and boy, oh boy, did he adore them. His Donald Duck impersonations were celebrated by kids and adults alike.

Margo was a devout member of Greater Praise Fellowship Church in Bear Creek, NC for over 14 years, where he served as a Deacon and avid servant of the Lord under the direct leadership of Pastor Ed &First Lady Angela Murchison.

Margo was a huge sports fan. His favorite team was the Washington Commanders “formerly known as the Redskins.” He had the opportunity to see them play live at the FedEx Stadium outside of Washington, DC. He was invited on the field to see the team practice ahead of the game. He was overjoyed by the overall experience.

Margo leaves behind to cherish and continue to be inspired by his loving ways and memories: his wife, Linda Everette of the home; children, Stan Haymon (Teika) of Upper Marlboro, MD, William Haymon (Tamara) of Fuquay, NC, Thalia Person of Raleigh, NC, Tonya McIver (Darrell) of Sanford, NC, Samantha Whoie of Raleigh, NC; two grandsons that he helped raise, Jamal & Jamil Haymon (twins); fourteen grandchildren (two deceased) and fourteen great-grands; siblings, Johnny Ingram of Fayetteville, NC, Francine McCrimmon of Deerfield, FL, Geraldine Foust (Johnny) of Winston Salem, NC, Charlene I. Conyers (Toney) of Durham, NC; sister-in-law, Dorothy Dowdy from Sanford, NC, and brother-in-law, Wallace McIver (Gloria) of White Plains, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends.
