William "WC" Clayton Dorsett

Mr. William "WC" Clayton Dorsett, age 79, of Sanford, NC transitioned to eternal rest on Monday, August 19, 2024, at his residence. 

William Clayton Dorsett, affectionately known as "WC," of Sanford, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on January 21, 1945, in the New Hope Community of Sanford, NC, to the late Amice Dorsett and Pauline Lambert Dorsett, WC was a cherished figure whose life was marked by his warmth, humor, and deep love for his family and community.

WC attended New Hope and WB Wicker Schools, where his endearing personality and quick wit began to make an impression. His radiant smile, playful jokes, and light-hearted sarcasm brought joy to everyone around him. As a devoted provider and protector, he was known for his steadfast dedication to his loved ones.

For many years, WC owned and operated his own successful logging business, demonstrating his hard work and commitment. His career was not only a testament to his industrious spirit but also a source of pride for him. Even as his health declined, he remained deeply connected to his passions, including raising beagle hunting dogs, which he cherished.

In addition to his work and hobbies, WC was an active member of The Country Boys Hunting Club, where he found great joy in hunting. His love for gardening and cooking was evident in his generous spirit, he often fed the community and shared fresh produce with those in need. His enthusiasm for quartet singing took him far and wide to gospel programs, reflecting his deep faith and love for music.

Family was at the heart of WC’s life. He eagerly anticipated the annual Dorsett family reunion, where he would cook the hog and prepare his famous beef stew, creating memorable moments for all. His legacy of bringing people together and fostering connections will be dearly missed.

WC’s spirit, generosity, and humor will forever be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a testament to love, laughter, and community, and he will be deeply missed.
