Ms. Wednesday "Wendy" Margaret Johnson, age 51 of Cameron, NC, transitioned to eternal rest on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville, NC.

The Obituary

Wednesday Margaret Johnson – “Wendy” was born on September 4, 1972 to the late Jacqueline Mae Evans and Michael Johnson in Brooklyn, New York.  She departed this life on June 6, 2024. 

In loving memory of Wednesday Johnson, it's with heavy hearts we bid farewell to a soul who cherished the beauty of nature and the wonders of the world. Wednesday's spirit was illuminated by her profound love for plants, the mesmerizing aquatic life, and an insatiable thirst for new experiences. Her legacy lives on in the vibrant hues of blooming flowers, the tranquility of rippling waters, and the countless memories she created exploring the marvels of our world. Forever remembered, forever cherished.

“Wendy, as she was affectionately called by her family and friends, was a loving person who cherished all aspects of personal growth and development. She dedicated over 20 years to the United States Postal Service, where she formed many cherished relationships and left a lasting impact on her colleagues and community.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Brooklynn Smith, her mother, Jacqueline Mae Evans; her father, Michael Johnson and grandmother, Margaret Gumbs, and grandfather, George Gumbs; her aunt, Geraldine Harris and her best friend, Elizabeth Murchison, aka "Nece Jackson".

She leaves to cherish her memories her children: Deandre Johnson of New York, Domoniquce Smith of Milwaukee, Detwaune Smith of Milwaukee, William Arberry (Morgan Arberry) of Arizona,and Sa’ni Johnson of North Carolina grandchildren; Zion Smith, Zy’aire Jordan, Zariah Birt, and Zanae Birt; her “Pop” as she called him, James Anthony Evans; her siblings: Michael Johnson, Aaliyah Evans, and Lisa Cox-McLeod; two nieces, Shamica Ray and RyLeigh Johnson; special niece, Toni Worthy; cousin-like sister, Tramaja Slade; sister in love, Becky Oxendine; brother in law, Charles McLeod; her extended families the Smith’s and Jackson’s, her dear friends, Desire’ Marsh, and Cynthia; her US Postal Service teams of Durham and Fayetteville and a host of other relatives and friends.
