The Obituary
If you ever had the blessing of meeting Wayme Andre Marsh, you likely walked away feeling seen, supported, and maybe even a little more hopeful about the world. That was the kind of man he was—quiet strength, steady love, and unwavering faith all wrapped in a warm smile and a heart that beat hardest for his family.
Wayme was born on January 15, 1965, to JC and Thelma Marsh, and from the start, he carried the legacy of faith and resilience that his parents instilled in him. A man of God through and through, Wayme lived what he believed—not loudly, but with conviction. He often said, “After God, my children are my everything.” And he meant it. Every day of his life was proof.
He was a present and devoted father—never missing a chance to remind his four children, Andre Lamont, Alecia Nicole, Wayne Antonio, and A’nya Sharlise, just how loved they were. His love wasn’t just spoken, it was lived: in the long hours he worked, the home-cooked meals, the games watched together, the prayers whispered, and the quiet sacrifices no one saw but everyone felt. His daughter-in-law, Shay Marsh, and the mother of his children, JoAnna Snipes, were also integral parts of his family circle, as were his godchildren—Brianna, Rachel, Hunter, Jada, and Giselle. His love extended far and wide, and among those who held a special place in his heart were his three devoted sisters—Phyllis Ann, Doris Jean, and Debra Kay—who stood beside him with unwavering love and support.
Wayme was surrounded by a large, loving extended family and countless friends who knew him as both gentle and strong, firm and forgiving.
And now, as he steps into eternal peace, he is being greeted by those who went before him—his beloved parents, JC and Thelma Marsh, his brothers Ricky and Johnny, and his oldest son, Lamont—waiting for him in Heaven with open arms.
Wayme was many things—a seasoned Chatham County Utility Inspector and cross connection ORC, a business owner, a serial entrepreneur—but above all, he was a provider in the deepest sense of the word. He gave without asking, showed up without needing to be called, and sacrificed quietly, joyfully, and without hesitation.
He had a deep passion for cooking and grilling, and could often be found in front of a hot grill, serving up food with love. He loved the outdoors and took pride in landscaping, shaping the earth with the same care and attention he gave to shaping his children’s lives. And when it came to sports—Wayme was fiercely loyal. NC State, the Lakers, and most of all, his beloved Washington Redskins (now Commanders)—those teams weren’t just pastimes, they were traditions, and he cheered for them the same way he showed up for life: fully committed, no matter the outcome.
Wayme was a man of few words, but when he spoke—or simply showed up—he reminded us all what love in action looks like. His gestures were quiet but powerful: a repaired tire, a paid bill, a hot meal, a kind silence when you needed it most. Like his father before him, he lived by the example of Christ—not just in church, but in every moment.
We want the world to remember Wayme Marsh for what he truly was: a real-life superhero. He was everything to everyone who needed him—a father, a provider, a protector, a mentor, and a friend. His loyalty ran deep, his actions spoke louder than words, and his legacy is woven into the lives of those he served, uplifted, and loved beyond measure.
He may no longer walk beside us, but Wayme's spirit—quiet, strong, and selfless—lives on in every life he touched.
The family will be receiving visitors at the home of his sister, Doris Raines at 1966 St. Luke Church Rd. Goldston, NC between the hours of 3pm-7pm.
