Mr. Walter Nathaniel Johnson, age 80 of Sanford, NC transitioned to eternal rest on Monday, June 24, 2024.
The Obituary
Walter Nathaniel Johnson entered into this world on January 24, 1944, to the proud parents of Sally and Nathaniel Johnson, Sanford, North Carolina. He departed this earthly life on Monday, June 24, 2024.
He confessed Christ at a young age and became a member of Piney Ridge Baptist Church. He truly loved his Church. He was Educated in the Lee County School System and enlisted in the United States Army, where he served for three years and received an Honorable Discharge.
He returned home and was employed by Federal Spinning Company for many, many years. He really enjoyed Life and “Loved” working. Later in life he became self employed as a machine operator cutting trees.
He was a great brother, father and grandfather. Better known to his friends as “Player and “Bo Hog;” and always willing to help anyone he could.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Sally Knight Johnson and Nathaniel Johnson; sisters, Bettye Aggerup and Grace Taylor; brother, John Johnson; and one son, Sterling Griffin.
He leaves to cherish in memories, his wife, Johnnie Jewell; two sons, Anthony Williams Johnson (Faye) and Craig Dorsett; one daughter, Ka` Tonya McIver affectionally called “Monique”; goddaughter, Lashonda Williams; one sister, Ruby Womack; one brother, Harold Johnson (Lois), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Tashonda McCormick (Jeremiah), Kha`lee affectionally called “Sweet Pea” and Derrion; two great-grandchildren, as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
