Vick Jr. Lynn passed away peacefully on September 16th, 2022.
He was born in Pittsboro NC, on February 11, 1946, to Fred and Elsie Horton Lynn. Vick was the second of six children.
He attended school in Chatham County and graduated from Horton High School in 1964. Vick excelled in athletics. He was a Horton High School Hall of Fame inductee in football. He was popular, smart, and very outgoing.
Vick went by nicknames that included “Chicken Snatcher”, “Black King”, “Whoppa”, “Flat Top”, “El Torius”, “Mr. Clean”, “Vickster”, “Vicky”, and “VJL”.
Vick joined Mitchell’s Chapel at a young age, where he remained affiliated throughout life. In recent years, he attended Mt Sinai AME Church, where he was an honorary member. Vick enjoyed a long career in the poultry and tractor-trailer driving industry as well.
He is the former spouse of Bettye Burgess.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Elsie Horton Lynn, his brother Fred and nephew “Moonie”.
Vick is survived by his children Carlos Lynn (Tiffany), Montrell Scurlock, and Marquita Lynn; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; siblings Gladys Alston, Joan Dark (Glenn), Dwight “Big Jake” Lynn, and Anthony “Kool Breeze” Lynn (Teresa); three aunts, Grace Baldwin, Maxine Horton, and Betty Horton; one uncle Floyd W. Horton Sr. and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
