The Memorial Reflections
“When peace like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll
Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say
It is well, it is well, with my soul.”
(Horatio Spafford)
These lyrics are the testament of our beloved VERONICA ELAINE MINTER MORGAN, who was born on March 31, 1947 in Harnett County, NC, to the late Freeman McIver and the late Arlivia Minter. She graduated from W. B. Wicker High School, Sanford, NC – the Class of 1965.
VERONICA’S work ethic and employment history included many years of service at Moen, Inc. of Sanford, where she retired. She also became a caretaker for her mother and brother in the later years of their life.
VERONICA was a faithful and devoted servant of Cameron Grove AME Zion Church, Broadway, NC. She served the kingdom of God and her church through the following ministries: a Church School teacher; a Class Leader; a Stewardess; a member of the Connectional Lay Council; and was the church’s representative for the Home Mission Department, The AME Zion Church. She was fully involved in the Woman’s Home and Overseas Missionary Society, serving as a Life Member, the chairperson of the Penny Brigade Project, and captain of the Bureau of Supply. Additionally, she was a member of the following church choirs: the Mass Choir, Gospel Choir, and the former Faithful Stars Choir. Moreover, on October 2, 1994, under the leadership of the late Reverend Grant Price, she was consecrated a Deaconess in the Lord’s church.
On June 27, 1980, VERONICA was united in holy matrimony to Hugh Ellis Morgan, in which they shared 20 years of marriage before his passing on July 30, 2000.
