Mrs. Vergena Renea Waller Edwards, age 59 of Raleigh, NC transitioned into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at her residence in Raleigh, NC.
Mrs. Vergena Waller Edwards, daughter of the late Frank Stanly Jr and Margaret Cooley, was born August 13, 1962 in Baltimore, MD.
Her education was received at Oxford Webb High School, Durham Technical College in Durham, NC and Shaw University in Raleigh, NC. She worked at several companies, John Umstead Hospital, Nortel and created a small business of her own.
Gina is the name family and friends called her.
Gina’s greatest labor of love was her family that she prayed and asked God for a special family and God as faithful and all-knowing as he is, united her with William Edwards and her son, Lenardo Bridges on July 1, 1993, her union was complete. She enjoyed simply spending time with her family, whether at home, at the park or eating as a family.
Vergena found Christ at an early age and through her educational journey, she majored in theology. Vergena became a member of the Orange County Baptist Church in Durham, NC. She continued to give back and spend plenty of time with children. There are two words that describe Vergena’s approach to life and they are awesome and passionate, and she did everything well.
Vergena was preceded in death by her only brother, Lawrence Waller (Diane).
Vergena leaves to cherish her treasured memories, husband of twenty-seven years, William Edwards of Raleigh, NC; son, Jimmy Lenardo Bridges (Priscilla) of Durham, NC, whom she will continue to love eternally; the joy of her heart, granddaughter, Zenae Mushette of Raleigh, NC; two step grandchildren, Azzan Warren and Azzalnia Warren both of Raleigh, NC; mother in law, Mabel Edwards of Durham, NC; two sisters in law, Diane Waller of Oxford, NC and Betty Mae Lindsey (Robert) of Roxboro, NC; three brothers in law, Alfred Reams Jr of Butner, NC, Thomas Edwards of Durham, NC and Charles Edwards of Chapel Hill, NC; her loving bonus friends, Regina Washington of Durham, NC, Johnetta Wilson of Raleigh, NC, Christy Dosch and Jack Dosch both of Durham, NC; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.
