Obituary
Mr. Vassel Dekato. Chesney, age 89 of Charlotte NC, transitioned into eternal rest on Friday, July 29, 2022, at Novant Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.
Mr. Chesney was born May 17, 1933, to the late Wilbur, Sr., and Nonia Chesney of Sanford NC.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Florence Lillian Chesney; parents, Wilbur Sr., and Nonia Chesney; brother, Wilbur Chesney, Jr.; six sisters, Dorothy Chesney Walton, Rosetta Chesney Redding, Lee Chesney Siler, Geneva Chesney McIver, Virginia Chesney Gray, and Wilma Chesney.
He leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters Avice Chesney Pretty (Thomas) of Charlotte, NC; Cathy Chesney Buck (Michael) of Chantilly, VA; Special son Tracy Martin (Angela) of Sanford, NC; four grandchildren, Dominque Cosby, Chasz Cosby, Zori Davis all of Charlotte, NC, and Lillian Buck of Chantilly, VA; great-grandson, Dallas Hampton of Charlotte, NC, special great-great nephew, Malik Headen of Sanford; two sisters-in-law, Minnie Pearl Headen (Waldo) of Sanford, NC; Gladys Hadley of Pittsboro, NC; brother-in-law, David Alston of Pittsboro, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
MASKS ARE REQUIRED. Temperature checks will also be taken upon entry to the sanctuary.
