Mr. Trevor Lloyd Wright, age 71 of Jamaica and Bronx, NY, transitioned into eternal rest on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at Highsmith-Rainey Specialty Hospital in Fayetteville, NC.
THE OBITUARY
Trevor Wright, loving husband and father, passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Highsmith-Rainey Specialty Hospital in Fayetteville, NC. He is now resting in the arms of the Lord, who saw that it was time and called him home. He was a man of principle who touched many lives during his 71 years and left memorable footprints along the four major chapters of his life in St. Elizabeth, Kingston, New York and in North Carolina.
Trevor was born in Thornton, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. He was the son of Ernel Wright and Ionie Bailey Bernard and the nephew of Evelyn Tappin, who had a major influence in his life. In the early 1960s, he moved to Kingston and was employed in an apprenticeship at Mullings Printery in the mid-1960s, where he learned the art of Printing such as Typesetting, Press Operation and Book Binding. He was able to master all those areas in printing and in 1969 was recruited by The Government Printing Office of Jamaica, where he excelled and became a Supervisor in the Composing Department. Trevor was later recognized as one of the most outstanding Supervisors of that Department.
He met his loving wife Verona in 1973 and they were married in 1986. Trevor was always disciplined and focused on his family, especially his daughter, Valencia and stepson Clarence. His focus was also on his friends, career and his Government Printing Office work family.
In 1998, he moved to New York with his daughter to join his wife. He worked consecutively for Kinney Systems Parking and Reliant Transportation, where he met several wonderful new friends and became a member of the 1181 Amalgamated Transit Union. Trevor retired in 2017 and moved to North Carolina with his wife, Verona, to relax and enjoy his retirement.
Throughout his life, Trevor knew the importance of setting goals and following through. He also knew how to be focused and had steadfast determination as he did not give up on his goals whenever there were roadblocks or obstacles along the way. Many others would have given up in circumstances he endured, but no, not Trevor. He was trustworthy, a man of integrity and a great friend who gave excellent advice to his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Verona; daughter, Valencia; stepson, Clarence; grandchildren, many brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, family and friends, who all loved him and will miss his presence and insightful conversations.
