Tommy Lee Wilkerson affectionately known as “Toot” was born August 19, 1960 to Decey McDougald and the late James Wilkerson in Sanford NC. He transitioned into eternal rest on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Central Carolina Hospital.
He attended Western Harnett high school and went on to enlist in the US Army as a Field Artilleryman. He later worked 19 years at Hallman Foundry. Toot had a variety of other jobs but can easily be found doing his favorite hobby, working on cars.
He leaves to cherish his memories: A devoted wife of 21 years Michelle Wilkerson; one son, Kendrick Piggie of Charlotte NC, four daughters Whittney Wilkerson, Kristina Wood, Kiara Wilkerson, and Mary Wilkerson all of Sanford NC, nine grandchildren Keshawn, Sha’nya, Keyonna, Shariya, Khamani (Piggie), Imari “Bam Bam”, Indria “InIn” (Wood), Dynasty “lil mama” Wilkerson, and Jami “Boone” Allen; his mother Decey McDougald; three brothers, James (Barbara), Ronald (Lonnie), and Bennie, one sister Linda, two half sisters, Stella Murchison and Jill Wilkerson, two special friends Clarence “Goody” McCutchen and James Lee Redwine. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
The family will receive friends at the home of his mother, Mrs. Decey McDougald, 325 Frazier Drive, Sanford, NC
