Mr. Thurlton Nesba Buie, "Tony", age 78 of Sanford, NC transitioned to eternal rest on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC. 

The Obituary

Thurlton was born on February 11, 1946, to Bertha Buie and R.T. Chalmers. On Saturday, December 14, 2024, God called his child, Thurlton (Tony) Nesba Buie home to rest. He passed away at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. 

Tony was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Buie, father, R. T. Chalmers grandmother, Margie Whitley, grandfather, John Buie, and sister, Barbara McLean.

Tony met the love of his life, Margie, through his sister Barbara, in 1974, while they were employed with Boy Scouts of America. Excited to start their lives together, Tony and Margie were married on June 2, 1977. 

Tony and Margie could not wait to become a family with their one child, Reggie, who meant the world to them as well as their grandson, Brandon. 

Tony was full of life, love and laughter.  Tony attended Ridgeway Elementary School.  Upon moving to Savannah, Georgia, he graduated from High School. 

Tony accepted the Lord as his Savior at a very young age.  Tony was a member of Williams Chapel Presbyterian Church, Broadway, North Carolina.

Tony worked as a dry cleaner manager, for 30+ years in Silver Spring, Maryland and Suitland, Maryland.  His employees loved him dearly and were sad to learn of his retirement.  Tony never met a stranger.

Tony loved his only grandchild, Brandon immensely. 

Tony leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Margie of forty-seven years; one son, Reggie Buie (Casey), of Stafford, VA; one grandson, Brandon, of Stafford, VA;  two sisters, Janice Anderson (Clinton), of Sanford, NC and Vickie Massey (Vincent), of Upper Marlboro, MD; one brother, Ron McLean (Michelle), of Raleigh, NC; one aunt, Elnora Buie of Washington, DC; one uncle, Jessie Chalmers, of Sanford, NC; four sisters-in-law, Mary Fluellen of Leonardtown, MD, Agnes Brooks of San Diego, CA, Ann Moore of San Diego, CA, and Linda Green of San Diego, CA;  three brothers-in-law, George Curtis of San Diego, CA, Joseph Curtis of District Heights, MD, Thomas Curtis of Great Mills, MD;  one bonus son, Quentin Buie of Baltimore, MD; a sister/cousin, Joyce Cossey of Savannah, GA, and a  host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, countless cousins, and friends.
