Obituary

Mr. Sylvester Worley, affectionately known as “Mann, Pa, Papa, Pops, Poppy, and Bub”, age 84, of 210 Solomon Worley Dr., Moncure, NC transitioned to eternal rest on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Transitions Life Care, Raleigh NC.

Sylvester was born to the late Solomon and Beatrice Crump Worley on October 5, 1941, in Chatham County, NC. He was married to Frances known as “Grace” and to this union four daughters were born.

Sylvester joined Liberty Chapel Church at an early age. He enjoyed singing that high tenor in the male chorus, the Bright Stars, and the Mighty Sanfordaires. He was a member of the Trustee Board. He worked diligently for over 20+ years at CSX Railroad until he retired. He also worked at Elkins Sawmill until God saw fit to call him home. His hobbies were fishing and gardening. He was always willing to give a smile and a helping hand when needed.

He joins his deceased siblings, Mozelle Worley, Solmettle Worley, Lula Mae Hughes, Simon Worley, Semuel Worley, Sampson Worley, and Steven Worley; one son-in-law, Robert Rone.

He leaves to cherish precious memories, his wife, Frances Harrington Worley; four daughters, Sharon Worley-Rone of Pittsboro, NC, Tracy Perry (Timothy) of Sanford, NC, Joan Worley of Sanford, NC, Pamela Worley of Sanford, NC; grandchildren Miyah Worley of Raleigh, NC, Braxton Perry of Morrisville, NC, Kadarus Rone of Pittsboro, NC, Bryson Perry of Sanford, NC; one great-grandson, Kamari Rone of Durham, NC; one sister, Phyllis Alston of Moncure, NC; one brother, Stanley Worley of Moncure, NC; one uncle, Willie Leroy Crump of New Hill, NC; five sisters-in-law, Brenda Edwards of Durham, NC, Jackie Sims of Oxen Hill, MD, Donna Murray of Lithonia, GA, Andrea Murray of Holly Springs, NC, Nellie Worley of Swansee, SC; four brothers-in-law, Larry Harrington (Brenda) of Sanford, NC, Quentin Murray of New Hill, NC, Bobby Ray (Eva) of Hampton, VA, Terry Murray of Vass, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
