Ms. Shameka Lyvette Dowdy, age 42, of Sanford NC, transitioned into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 21, 2021.
Shameka Lyvette Dowdy was born August 11, 1978, in Sanford, North Carolina to Sandra Miller and David Adams Jr. She made her transition to her heavenly home on Wednesday, April 21, 2021.
Shameka was a very dedicated mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, niece, and friend to all. She was known to close family and friends by her nickname “Meka.” Happiness was her way of life and her pure genuine heart was her way of giving. Shameka was always happy and was never seen without her smile, a smile that would brighten the room. Shameka was a ray of sunshine that people needed in their life. She used her sunshine to help touch the lives of many others. Shameka always saw the good in others. She took worries away from so many people. Meka was a strong woman who chose to love with all her heart, fought with all bravery, and sensible with great wisdom.
Shameka attended Lee County High School. She later went to further her education at Central Carolina Community College where she obtained her license as a certified nursing and medical assistant. Shameka has been employed at Total Life Care for over 10 years in her profession, and well known everywhere she went. She has also worked with a host of additional private clients.
Shameka was preceded in death by her great-grandmother Mary Bell Dowdy, grandmother Daisy Adams, grandfathers David Fields and Devon McKoy, and a niece, Diamond Richardson. Shameka leaves to cherish her memories to her son Damel Gill, daughter Damari Smith, mother Sandra (Jessie) Miller, father David (Darlene) Adams; sisters Lakina (Shyrone) Smith, Tawanya Wiltshire, Ada Darylmple, Tiffany Richardson; brothers David Kyle, Kelden Baker, Jamal Miller; grandmother Luvina Dowdy, her special friend Damon Smith, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, family, and friends.
