Sarah Louise (Cox) Woods

Sarah Louise Woods age 77 of 2008 Tew St. Sanford, NC passed on Saturday, August, 10, 2019 at Moore Regional Hospital. 

Sarah Louise Cox-Woods was born to the late Josephus and Juanita Cox. She went home to be with the Lord on August 10, 2019.

Early in life she was united in marriage to the late Carl O. Woods Sr. and to this union three children were born. Along with her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Alice Johnson, Barbara Ann Williams-Lewis and a brother, Arthur Cox.

At an early age, she was a faithful member of Star of Hope Original Freewill Baptist Church and later joined her husband and began her membership at Tempting Congregational Church. Sarah was known for her soprano voice and enjoyed singing with her family group the Christian Travelers and Tempting Senior Choir. She also served faithfully on the usher board for many years. She had a lengthy career as a Certified Nursing Assistant and was a well-known childcare provider for many. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and a faithful attendee at Lee County’s Enrichment Center where she was known for her lively and charismatic personality. She was also known for her fashion in hats and her abundance of jewelry. She will be missed by all that knew her.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her sons, Carl Woods, Jr. (Malinia), and Stephen Woods; a daughter, Tracey Woods; grandchildren, Shareese Hicks (Antwon), Carla Woods, Bryan Woods, Jason Headen, Jeanna Headen, Travaris Leggett, William Burns, Joshua Woods (Starlene), Connie Woods, and Jeremy Headen (Amber); ten great grandchildren; godson, Kendrick Cox (Denise); two sisters, Betty Kelly-Lee and Sylvia Judd (Howard); three brothers, Robert Cox, Sr. (Jobee), Joseph Cox and Norman Cox (Betty); sisters-in-law-, Bertha Mae Woods, Josephine Graham, Patricia McKeithan, Claretha Johnson, Lula Mae Woods and Sandra Patterson; brother-in-law, Melvin Woods (Brenda) and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
