Ruby Doris Fox Simmons age 83 of Sanford, North Carolina departed this life on Monday, May 18, 2020 at Cambridge Hills Assisted Living in Pittsboro, North Carolina.
She was born on May 4, 1937 to the late George and Lessie Fox. She was the last sibling left of 11 children. She had joined Robinson Chapel AME Zion Church at an early age and visited Alston Chapel United Church of Christ on many occasions.
She graduated from WB Wicker High School in 1958.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Rudolph Simmons “Mankind”; one daughter, Von Sheral Simmons; five brothers and five sisters.
She leaves to cherish her memories: five children, Linda Fox Percell, Jimmy Lee Fox (Jodie), Lessie Fox Lee Cain (Richard), Deirdre Foxx Hopkins (Myron) and Dennis Delano Simmons (Provita); fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, seven sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
