Rosa Lee (Trapp) Berryman

Mrs. Rosa Lee Trapp Berryman, age 72 of Sanford NC transitioned into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Sanford Health and Rehabilitation Center in Sanford, NC.

Rosa Lee Berryman aka “Deacon” was born February 28, 1949, to the late James H. Taylor and Rosetta Trapp. She was raised by the late Margaret Reaves who she called Mom.

Deacon attended New Hope and later attended W.B. Wicker. She was employed at Webster Poultry for 27 years until she left to become a stay-at-home mother.

Deacon sought the Lord at Mt. Sinai Holiness Church, she later joined Trinity United Methodist Church where she became a faithful and dedicated member.  She served as the president of the Usher Board and the Communion Committee until her health declined.

She was well known for her famous biscuits, cabbage, and sweet potatoes. Everyone in the community knew how much she adored her family, especially those grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Frank, Smokie, Jeff, John and Perkin; a sister, Gloria; her mother-in-law, Mary W. Berryman and a special sister-in-law, Colleen B. Simms.

Deacon leaves to cherish her memories: her husband of fifty-one years, James L. Berryman, better known as her “Jim”; three children, Anthony, Jamell and Rodney; fourteen grandchildren, Chaketa, Kiara, NaQuan, India, Sharrod, Travail, Treyvon, Destinee, Cierra, Kaleel, Kionya, Xavian, Nadia and Akio; eleven great grands including a three week old grandson who she didn’t get to meet and a granddaughter that’s awaiting arrival; sisters, Patricia, Peggy (Tino), Barbara and Shirly (Dan); Linda, Sheila (Patrick); brothers, Joe (Cathy), James, Charles (Shonda) and Mark (Michelle); a special brother-in-law, Donnie; a special daughter-in-law, Tonya and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Big Mama truly will be missed.
