Obituary for Roger Valentino Rollins
“Tell my family I love them. Tell everybody I love them.”

Roger Valentino Rollins, affectionately known as “Tino,” was born on September 23, 1953, in Lee County, North Carolina, to the late Rudolph Valentino Rollins and Eula Murchison Rollins. He peacefully transitioned from this life on July 11, 2025, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina, at the age of 71.

Roger was a proud veteran, having served in the United States military and been stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. It was during his early years that he met and fell in love with Nedra Taylor—lovingly known as Peggy. Through their union, they built a strong and loving family. Together, they raised five children: Roderick, Phaedra (Jason), Tenajh (Stephaine), Tequinnian, and Raquino (Thomas).

Roger was known as a jack-of-all-trades. From plumbing to electrical work and everything in between, his hands could fix nearly anything. He was the one people called when something needed to be done right, and he always answered with heart and skill. His passion for helping others, especially his family and friends, was unmatched.

Roger had a deep love for history and fashion. He was always sharply dressed and well put-together, often seen wearing one of his many hats and coordinated outfits. He was known for his clean, polished style—always stepping out with class and confidence.

He was a faithful member of House of Refuge Ministries, where he attended regularly with his wife and family. His spiritual walk was important to him, and it reflected in the love and guidance he gave those around him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nedra “Peggy” Rollins; five children, Roderick, Phaedra (Jason), Tenajh (Stephaine), Tequinnian, and Raquino (Thomas); and six beloved grandchildren, Zariãh, NaDeja, Kornielus, Heavenly, Tequinnian Jr. (“Papa”), and Zayan. He also leaves behind his siblings, Gracie, Ronnie, Clara, Janet, and Barry.

Roger was preceded in death by his siblings Lorenzo, Mary Jo, Shelby Wayne, James a.k.a. “Jack,” and Steve.

His final words were simple, yet full of meaning — the same way he lived his life: “Tell my family I love them. Tell everybody I love them.”

Roger Valentino Rollins was more than a loving husband and dad, he was a protector, a provider, a friend, and a legend to those who knew him. His legacy will live on in the hearts, laughter, and memories of all who loved him.
