Obituary

Roderick Terrell Hackney affectionately known as “Snapper” was born on November 12, 1965, at UNC Hospitals to Mattie Edwards Hackney and James William Headen. From his early childhood, Mr. William H. Hackney cared for him lovingly and with dedication. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 6:54pm surrounded by his loving family.

Snapper was preceded in death by his father, William Henry Hackney and one brother, James Headen Jr.

Snapper leaves to cherish his precious memories a loving, caring and devoted mother, Mrs. Mattie E. Hackney; one daughter, Traci Hackney; grandchildren, Khaidyn Robinson and Destinee Alston; one brother Duane Hackney (Latondra); two sisters, Natosha Farrington (Etetai), Coretta Headen Gatling (Richard); a special friend, Cynthia Bullock; nephews, Duane Hackney, Jr, Etetai Farrington III, James Headen III, Andre Ashley; nieces, Amari Bell, Jailyn Bell, Dominique Hackney and Taiylen Farrington; paternal grandmother, Ms. Lillian Alston; former wife, Ms. Anita Newkirk
and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
