Mr. Robert Lee Petty, age 78, of Sanford, NC, entered eternal rest on Monday, July 7, 2025, at the VA Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC.

Robert Lee Petty was born September 18, 1946, and transitioned his earthly life on July 7, 2025, at the VA Medical Center, Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, North Carolina.  Robert was married to Hattie A. Petty for 46 years.

Robert was a Veteran and served his country in the United States Army Branch.  After completing his tour of service in Vietnam, he returned home and joined the Sanford National Guard.

Before his retirement, Robert worked as a machinist at Robert’s Company.  He also worked with other companies in the Sanford area.  In his spare time, he loved gardening and cooking. He was our family guiding light and our family Backbone whenever any of us needed help!  His radiant smile and laughter were contagious.  He loved visiting with his family.  Robert was truly loved and loved by his family.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother and father, Martha A. and Grady Petty, Sr.; brothers, George E. Locklear and James M. Petty; sisters, Mary E. Redwine and Margaret A. Petty.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Hattie A. Petty; one sister, Lucille Trusell; one brother, Grady Petty, Jr.; two brothers-in-law, Robert E. Allen and Paul G. Allen, (Venus); one sister-n-law, Juanita Allen; three special nieces, Cynthia Williams, Cheryl Trusell and Cecilia McNeill; two special nephews, Issac and Kobe Allen-Hunt and many other special nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
