Mr. Richard Garrett Bush, age 65, of Sanford, NC, transitioned to eternal rest on Friday, December 19, 2025, at UNC Hillsborough in Hillsborough, NC.

Obituary

Richard Garrett Bush was born in Sanford, NC on July 18, 1960, to the late Jake and Ola Mae Bush. He departed this life on December 19, 2025, at UNC Hillsborough Hospice.

Richard attended Lee Senior. He served 3 years in the US Army and after being honorably discharged from the military he worked as a mechanic and then a truck driver.

Richard was a charismatic and outgoing person. He loved his family and friends, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand. Being around family and friends was what made him the happiest, especially if fishing or music was involved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Ola Mae Bush; and two brothers, Jake Bush Jr. and Randy Bush.

He leaves to cherish his memories: daughter, Janel Allen (Chris) of Sanford, and son, Deshawn Bush of Sanford; grandson, CJ Allen and granddaughter, Kamea Allen, both of Sanford; six sisters, Earline Lewis of Sanford, Estelle Bush of Sanford, Felecia Laplanche of Fayetteville, Pamela Jones of Fayetteville, Gwendolyn Mclaughlin of Winston Salem, and Melia Bess of Winston Salem. He also leaves his nephews Randy and Jason Bush as well as a host of nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
