Rev. Mable Goldston McLeod, age 81 of 679 Rosser Rd., Bear Creek, NC passed peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at her residence.
Reverend Mable McLeod was born June 1, 1938 to the late E.P. and Edna Goldston. She was married to the late Howard I. McLeod and of this union eight children were born.
Reverend McLeod not only “talked the talk”, but she “walked the walk”, leading her family and others to Christ. She was a LIFE speaker, who used the word of God to speak LIFE in situations and circumstances deemed impossible by God to relate with people regardless of age, race, and background. She was a highly respected woman of God, not only in the church, but in her community and throughout the world as she prayed for listeners on WXKL 1290 on the radio. She was a living testimony of God’s ability to comfort in time of sorrow, strengthen in time of weakness, heal in time of sickness and provide when provisions were low. Adjectives used to describe were: quiet, humble, meek, loving, caring, always willing, prayerful, thankful and dependable. She strongly believed in her mission from God to preach the word and go out into the highways and byways visiting the sick, those in rest homes and hospital.
Reverend McLeod preached her initial sermon and received her license to preach on November 26, 2000 at Taylor’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Donald Jones, Sr. She continued serving faithfully under the leadership of Reverend Eugene Staton. She later moved her membership to New Beginnings Ministries where she served as Associate Minister under the leadership of Pastor Phyllis Carter. Reverend McLeod served these churches and many other churches in the body of Christ.
Educationally, she has accomplished and received many certificates through the Interdenominational Bible Institute, Woman’s Baptist Home and Foreign Missionary Convention of North Carolina, General Baptist State Convention of NC, International Bible Institute, Emmaus Bible College, Keys to Life Bible Institute and Taylor’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She received a Masters degree of Prophesy on Oct. 20, 1986, through Word Faith Clinic and Promotion under Prophet Charles F. Young, Sr. Her most prized award was a Citizen of the Year Award presented to her in March 2001 from Tyson Enterprise recognizing her for outstanding service in the Lord and her Community.
She was preceded in death by her son Hugh David McLeod. Deceased siblings: Beatrice Taylor, Reverend Annie Alston, Paul Goldston, Eugene Goldston, Jesse James Goldston, William Goldston and E.P. Jr.
She leaves seven children to cherish her memories, Pastor Phyllis M. Carter, Howard (Pop) McLeod, Minister Priscilla Brewington (Phillip), Danita Lynch, Robert McLeod (Denise), Shirley McLeod, and Marsha McLeod; sixteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren; three brothers: Edward (Latima), Jimmy, and Richard (Pamela) and one sister, Lessie Staton (William); a very special friend, Pastor Pearline McMillan. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.
The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Phyllis Carter at 501 Greenhill Drive, Siler City, NC.
