Mrs. Priscilla Ann (Overton) Gooch, age 65, of Sanford, NC transitioned to eternal rest on Friday, June 13, 2025, at her residence.

Priscilla Ann (Overton) Gooch was born August 18, 1959, in Richmond, Virginia and transitioned on Friday, June 13, 2025, in Sanford, North Carolina after an ongoing struggle with Lung and Blood Cancer at the age of 65. At the age of two she was adopted by the late Ruthell and William Overton.
Priscilla gave her life to the Lord at a young age at Fair Promise A.M.E Zion Church. She was an active member, singing in many choirs and ushering with the Junior Usher Board.
Priscilla attended W.B. Wicker Elementary School, Sanford Middle School and later graduated from Sanford Central High School. After completing high school, she headed to North Carolina Central University in Durham to major in Elementary Education. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1981. Priscilla began her teaching career with Union County Schools in Marshville, NC. After one year, she returned to Sanford to work with Lee County Schools where she retired in 2012 with 32 years of service. She was a member of NCAE (N.C. Association of Educators).
Priscilla was an active adult member in her church where she served as Preachers Steward, member of the Women of Promise and the Deaconess Board. In the community she was an active member of James Hill Chapter #63, Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Felice Overton; and two close friends/"DIVAS", Clara Ephriam and Billie McNeil.
She is survived by her family: husband, Phillip Gooch; daughters, Phylicia Gooch and Jasmine Gooch; step-son, Maurice McIver (Tabitha); siblings, David Overton, James Overton, Renee Overton, and Hezekiah Overton; grandchildren, Jalynn Gooch, DeShon Smith, Mollique Blue, London Barrett, Lauren Graham, MaKaylia McIver, and McKenzie McIver; one great grandchild, Kai Harris; and many other family members including one uncle, Coley M Hooker; one aunt, Tinnie Dawkins; and many other family members. In addition to family, Priscilla loved and was loved by her circle of friends, The DIVAS: Gaynell McIver and Cheville Branch; dear friends, Gwendolyn Jones, Ellen Brooks and Rhonda Williams. She will truly be missed by many longtime friends and acquaintances.
