Phyllis Ann Dorsett

Ms. Phyllis Ann Dorsett, age 69, passed peacefully in her sleep at her home on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.

Phyllis, the fourth oldest of nine siblings, was born April 24, 1955 in Sanford, North Carolina.

Phyllis was known for her delicious food, putting family first, and determined personality. She undoubtedly loved her sons but adored her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and will be missed by those who loved her most. Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family and loved ones. She was a well-respected woman.

Earlier in her walk with God, Phyllis was a member of Ebenezer Gospel Assembly under the leadership of Pastor Delois Washington. She was later led to join Works for Christ Christian Center under the leadership of Drs. Lewis and Alice Hooker. She worked in the ministry until her health failed.

Phyllis’ education was within the Lee County School System before joining the workforce to provide for her family. As a youth, she enjoyed playing softball on her mother’s, Lida Dorsett softball team, The Mighty Tigers.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her mother, Lida Dorsett; brothers, Everett Dorsett Jr. "Ebb" and Michael Dorsett "Mike"; sisters, Vickie Gainey, Barbara Covington "Sas", and Peggy Murchison.

Phyllis leaves cherished memories to her father, Everett Dorsett "Sunny Boy"; sons, Christopher Dorsett (Shelia), Carlos Dorsett (Leticia), and Craig Dorsett; one bonus son, Antonio Johnson; grandchildren, Chasity, Shelby, Cameron, Carlos Jr. "CJ", Cheyenne, Isaiah, and Derrion; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Asa, and Inayah; siblings, Gwendolyn "Faye" Dorsett, Marcia Neal, David Dorsett (Darlene), Janel Dorsett; uncles: George Chesney (Jackie) and JC Radar; aunts: Geraldine Jones and Viola Barrett; special Cousins, Vera Smith and WC Dorsett "Dub"; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
