Paul Person

Mr. Paul Person, age 78 of Sanford, NC transitioned into eternal rest on Saturday, August 28, 2021, in Sanford, NC.

Paul Richard Person was born April 23, 1943, in Cameron NC to the late Duvaul Person and Marie Elerbe Black.  He is the oldest of nine siblings.  Paul began his eternal life on August 28, 2021. 

Paul attended school at WB Wicker in Sanford where he graduated in 1964.  Paul served 3 years of military service from 1964-1967 in the US Army.  After his military service, he resided in Sanford NC for the duration of his life.  He served a 22-year career working for the Sanford Police Department and then the Lee County Sheriff's Department as the first black Lieutenant Detective of Sanford NC until his retirement in 1986.  He went on to work with the Sharon Harris Nuclear Power Plant for 22 years until his second retirement.

Paul leaves to cherish for loving memories his daughters, Delma Leisa Barker, Marie Person Utley, Angela Person, and Paula Person;  his brothers, Nelson McNeil, Jimmy Pratt, Anthony Person, Edwin Person, Joseph Person, David Person; sisters Linda Person Johnson, Gloria Person Bell, Sheila Person; grandchildren Christopher Headen, Crystal Headen, Deanna Johnson Dowdy, Tony Utley, Jr., Michael Collins, Jr., Aaron James, Whitney Person, and Cameron Cain, and nine great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will be receiving visitors starting August 30, 2021, until the day of service at 1280 Frank Wicker Road Sanford, NC. Visitation hours are 4 pm-7 pm daily. Masks are enforced.
