Ms. Oneda Cameron, age 74, of Bronx, NY, formally of Sanford, NC, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at Hebrew Home For The Aged At Riverdale in Bronx, NY.
The Obituary
Oneda Cameron was born on July 31, 1949, in Lee County North Carolina to the late Curtis and Leola Cameron. After a brief illness, she passed away peacefully and gained her heavenly wings on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, surrounded by her family and friends.
Oneda received her education at W.B. Wicker School, and later relocated to Philadelphia and continued her Education. Later she moved to New York, attended Mercy College and received an Associate Degree in Business Management.
Oneda worked for 43 yrs. at St. John’s Riverside Hospital in ASU and then as a Secretary on the Maternity Floor before retiring in 2016. She also worked part time at Marian Woods in Scarsdale, NY at St. John’s Hospital, Oneda was passionate about making sure her patients received the proper care and services they needed.
Oneda was our biggest cheerleader and a constant supporter. She was a strong woman who faced every challenge in life with courage and dignity. Oneda was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of family and friends before her own. She was a woman of faith and instilled in us the importance of family, hard work, and doing what is right. Although she did not have children of her own, she was a devoted second mother to her siblings, nieces and nephews. She was a true role model and a source of inspiration to her family and everyone she came in contact with. Oneda will be remembered as a loving sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.
Oneda was preceded in death by her father Curtis Cameron and her mother Leola Cameron. She also was preceded in death by three of her siblings; Bobbie Craven, Curtis Jr. Cameron and Geneva Maxine Cameron.
Oneda leaves behind five sisters: her twin Juanita (Raymond) Harrington, Yonkers, NY, Delores McLean, Brenda Cameron, and Cheryl Cameron all of Sanford, NC; Catherine Siler (Dirrick) of Covington, GA, two brothers, Larry Cameron and Artis Cameron of Sanford, NC. She leaves to cherish her longtime partner and friend Earl Mitchell from Yonkers NY and one aunt; Ruby Pearson of Sanford, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
Oneda was a beautiful, quiet, social butterfly, she was a beacon of light, a loving second mother, sister, aunt, and a wonderful friend. An exceptional woman to all who came in contact with her. Beyond goodbye there is a beautiful place where her memory lives forever.
