On June 13, 2021 Oma Gail Young (Gail) of Sandwich, MA passed away surrounded by family from complications of dementia with Lewy Bodies.
Born on March 7, 1936 in Yakima, Washington to Ora and Daniel Razey. She graduated from Selah High School in 1955, attended Washington State University, and Rhode Island School of Design. Gail was a gifted costume and clothing designer who worked across the U.S. in various Theater and Opera Companies. From her work, she was scouted and began working in Hollywood for NBC and Paramount Studios and remained a member of the union. While in California she met and married Francis A. Young then moved to put her family first from California to Cape Cod where his family resided. Once on the Cape she remained there for 51 years. Once her children grew a bit older, she once again took up her passion. Oma began working for many production companies not only all over the Cape but throughout the country. When she wasn’t sewing her heart out she was working in all manner of occupations. She drove a school bus, sold jewelry and clothing, and was even a driving instructor.
Gail demonstrated her love for people by donating her time to help the homeless, making pillowcases for foster children, she worked at the Cape Cod Conservatory, on Cape Cod Council of Churches Board, Cape Cod Chorale Board. She was a Soprano for The Saints and Singers, The Cape Cod Chorale, The 4C’s Chorus and many other choruses and church choirs all over the Cape. She also made costumes on the Cape for The Falmouth Theater Guild, the 4C’s Tilden Center of Performing Arts, and many many others.
Gail expressed her love for people by donating her time, money and creating beautiful useful items for the homeless, foster children and even those in other countries. She was a long-time subscriber of the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra, as well as The New England Opera Company. She was passionate about travel, the cultural arts, and books of all kinds.
She was a loving mother to her daughter’s Lucinda Yates, Charity Boedeker and her son Blair Yates. A grandmother and great-grandmother of 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her brothers Tom, Jim and Bill Razey and predeceased by her loving husband Francis A. Young and her first husband Keith Yates.

A memorial service will take place on the 28th of June, 2021 at 6p.m. On the beach at Mant’s Landing, Robbins Hill Rd & Warrens Rd. Brewster, MA 02631 with a small reception to follow at the Lemon Tree Village at 1069 Main Street. Brewster, MA 02644
