Olga Gonzalez Obituary

Mrs. Olga M. Gonzalez, age 90, of Pittsboro, NC, transitioned to eternal rest on Monday, October 6, 2025.

In loving memory of Olga M Gonzalez Ocasio

August 1935 - October 2025

Olga M. Gonzalez De Ortiz was born on August 21, 1935, in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico. She was one of thirteen children and spent her early years in the Puerto Rican countryside.

Determined to pursue her education and build a meaningful future, Olga later moved to the city to live with her older sister, where she completed her schooling and vocational training.

In 1958, Olga married the love of her life, Joaquin A. Ortiz, a proud member of the United States Air Force. Together, they built a beautiful life grounded in love, faith, and family. They raised three children: Lesbia, Eric, and Joaquin Jr., affectionately known as Kinney.

Her love extended deeply to her four grandchildren— Kristian, Jesse, Jericka, and Kinney—who brought immense joy to her life.

She was also blessed with two great-granddaughters, Angelique and Stephanie, and was joyfully anticipating the arrival of a new great-grandchild, Sophie Rose, who was born recently on October 18, 2025.

Olga, earned a secretary certificate from a vocational school and went on to obtain additional certifications as a Beautician and a Baker—testament to her hardworking spirit and her many talents. Professionally, Olga dedicated 15 years of service as a secretary with the Department of Food Stamps in Puerto Rico. Her compassion, dedication, and professionalism touched the lives of many within the community.

Beyond her career, Olga had a deep passion for gardening and found peace and fulfillment in caring for her plants. She also had a special love for poetry, with an incredible memory and a gift for recitation that inspired and delighted those around her.

Olga was a devoted member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church from 1979 to 2025. She lived a life of unwavering faith. Her commitment to God and her church community was evident in every aspect of her life.

She was a woman of grace, humility, and deep spiritual devotion.

Olga will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, and a kind and generous soul to all who knew her. Her legacy of faith, love, and strength will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
