Ms. Ola Vera (Brooks) Baker, age 75, of Sanford, NC, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at First Health Hospice House in West End, NC.
The Obituary
Born on May 2, 1950, in Sanford, NC, Ola was the cherished daughter of the late John David and Doris H. Brooks. She received her education through the Lee County School System, laying a strong foundation for a life enriched with wisdom and compassion.
Ola was preceded in death by her loving parents, John David and Doris H. Brooks; her devoted husband, Earnest Lee Baker; one brother, Clarence Lee Brooks, Sr., and two sisters, Mary Ann Brooks and Rosie Brooks. She also endured the heartbreaking loss of her daughter, Alexanderia Baker, and two beloved grandsons, Tyrice Worthy and Deshawn Brooks.
Ola’s enduring legacy lives on through her loving children, Earnest Lee Brooks (Tamara) of Sanford, NC, Christine Baker (Clarence) of Sanford, NC, and Doris Sheree Snipes (Hosea) of Carthage, NC. She also leaves behind a host of adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will forever honor her memory.
She is further survived by her beloved aunt, Barbara King of Raleigh, NC; two devoted sisters-in-law, Alberta Crudup of San Jose, California and Josie Wellington of New York; and many dear relatives and friends whose lives were touched by her presence.
Ola will be fondly remembered for her radiant smile, her wonderful sense of humor, her heartfelt conversations, and the infectious laughter that followed her everywhere. Her warmth and grace will be profoundly missed, but the joy she brought to others will remain in our hearts forever.
