Norman Leverne Cox, Sr.

Norman Leverne Cox, Sr., age 63 of 2001 Hope St., Sanford, NC passed on Wednesday, December 25, 2019 at his residence.

Norman L. Cox Sr. was born on September 2nd, 1956 to the late Josephus and Juanita Cox. He entered eternal rest on December 25th, 2019. Early in life he was united in marriage to Betty E. Buchanon and to this union three children were born.

At an early age, he was a faithful member of Star Of Hope Original Freewill Baptist Church. He also fellowshipped and worshipped at  Emanuel Glorious Church of God until his health begin to fail. Norman was known for his anointed gift and love for his bass guitar. He enjoyed playing and singing with his family group Christian Travelers, Young Men for Christ, The Traveling Stars and New Vision; as well as, a host of other groups. When it came to playing his guitar, he rarely said no.

He had a lengthy career with Magneti Marelli Powertrain until his retirement. He will truly be missed by all that knew him.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Norman L. Cox Jr.; one brother, Arthur Cox and three sisters, Alice Johnson, Barbara Ann Williams Lewis and Sarah L. Cox Woods.

He leaves to cherish his wife Betty of the home; his sons, Tremayne Buchanon (Fontella) and Kendrick Cox (Denise); his grandchildren, Skyy, Kendrick Jr., Trey'Je, Norrice, Khadijah, Deigo and Dustin; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Kelly-Lee and Sylvia Judd (Howard); two brothers, Robert Cox, Sr. (Jobe) and Joseph Cox; two sisters-in law, Gloria Buchanon and Frances Pearson (Russell); two brothers-in law, Rev. Fred T. Dunlap (Mary) and Horace Buchanon; a special niece, Tracey Woods and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
