Mr. Nelson Lee Leach, age 45 of Johnsonville, NC transitioned into eternal rest on Monday, October 4, 2021, at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville NC.
On Monday early afternoon, God whispered to Nelson Lee Leach and quietly bid him home. Nelson was born October 15, 1975 in Lee County, North Carolina to the late Robie and Mary Francis Stewart. In infancy, God in his infinite wisdom chose John and Katie Leach to welcome baby Nelson into the Leach household. Nelson transitioned from this earth on October 4, 2021 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Fayetteville North Carolina. Nelson was a quiet, shy, funny man who loved his family. Although he was a man of few words, if he saw something that wasn’t right, he would let you know. Nelson was an avid sports fan, and loved watching the Duke Blue Devils men’s basketball team.
At an early age Nelson attended Spout Springs Presbyterian Church and Johnsonville A.M. E. Zion Church, where he was a member of the Youth Choir. Nelson attended the Harnett County School System where he had a love for science. As a young adult Nelson was employed at Moen Faucets and Zurn Industries in Sanford, North Carolina.
Nelson was preceded in death by his father John Leach, biological father Robie Stewart. Maternal grandparents Walter and Annie B Gilchrist and Buddy and Cora Bell Lester, Paternal Grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Henry Leach. Aunts; Dorothy Mae Freeman (Joseph), Bernice Gilchrist Jackson (Henry), Flora Hill, Doreatha Lester, Lynette Clark Gilchrist, Bernice Winecoff and Grace Bass (Marshall); uncles; Walter Gilchrist, John Ervin Gilchrist, Pete Lester, Paul Lester and James Lester.
Nelson leaves to cherish his memories: mother, Katie Lee Leach of Cameron, N.C., son, Montez Razi Oliver-Leach of Sanford, N.C., daughter, Namilla Zhane Lee Leach; son, Nelson Jamar Leach of Cameron, N.C.; his biological mother, Mary Francis Stewart of Olivia, N.C.; siblings, Patricia Brown of Long Island N.Y., Mary Williams of Olivia, N.C., Johnny Stewart of Spring Lake, N.C., Lily Stewart and Sherry Stewart of Sanford, N.C.; aunts, Mary Grant (James) and Annie Lois Gilchrist of Cameron, N.C.; uncles, Charlie Gilchrist (Bobbie), Levander Gilchrist, Garner Gilchrist (Merrendia) and Hollis Gilchrist of Cameron, N.C., JB Lester of Queens, N.Y., Robert Lee Lester of Norrington, N.C. and Walter Lester of Cameron, N.C.; special friends whom he loved like brothers, James Johnson and Contrell Gilchrist “Tunchi”. Nelson also leaves behind a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
