Dr. Nellie Marie White, age 67 of 638 East Forest Oaks Drive, Sanford, NC transitioned into eternal rest Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at her residence.
Dr. Nellie Marie Roberson White was born to the late Nellie Roberson and Carl Isler on September 12, 1952 in Harlem, New York. She transitioned to her heavenly home on July 8, 2020. Growing up in Harlem, New York, Dr. White later moved to Trenton, North Carolina with her mother.
Dr. White is a graduate of the class of 1970 of Jones Senior High School. She continued her education at various colleges and universities. She later received her Doctorate degree in 2010 from Agape Bible College.
Dr. White retired as a cosmetology instructor with Durham Public Schools. She worked the majority of those years at the historic Hillside High School. While at Hillside Dr. White had an impact on her students and colleagues. She was instrumental in assisting the Performing Arts department in several events. She was the advisor of the Hillside High Gospel Choir where she enjoyed lifting up the name of Jesus Christ. Through this service she had a great impact on the lives of many of her students.
Dr. White was an ordained evangelist where her mission was to spread the word of hope and courage about Jesus Christ. She told everyone where ever she went about the love of Jesus. Which led her to Pastor and lead several ministries.
She had a great love for singing and worshipping at her church NewHope. At NewHope she sang on the praise team and participated in the Life groups. She was blessed and honored to participate in the Billy Graham Crusade Prayer Group where she traveled the state of North Carolina leading people to Christ. In 2019 she had the privilege to travel to Israel with her church to the Holy land.
Dr. White is preceded in death by her parents, Nellie Roberson and Carl Isler; her sisters, Retha Brown, Alleyne Toodle and Harriett Barber.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories four nieces: Yvette (Sonny) Johnston, Nanette Morris, Katrina Choice, Keri Toodle; one great-niece: Andrea Choice and three great-nephews: Jason Choice, Melvin Morris Jr. and Stephaun Morris and a godson, Rev. Timothy J. Faison.
