Obituary
Nathaniel “Nate” Perry was born on October 30, 1960, to the late James E. Perry and Bettie J. Perry in Baltimore Maryland. He departed this life on September 6, 2025, at Moore Regional Hospital.
His early years of education were in the Baltimore public school system. He eventually moved to North Carolina and completed his education at Greenwood High School. His faith journey started in Baltimore, Maryland at Faith Baptist Church where he attended church for many years. Once he moved to North Carolina, he made the decision to join Fair Promise AME Zion Church since so many of his family were already attending.
Throughout his life, Nate worked in so many different arenas. He worked with a roofing company for years, but he had longevity with US Naval Academy in Annapolis Maryland, with his tenure there being more than fifteen years. After relocating back to North Carolina, he worked as a painter for the Housing Authority in Sanford, NC and worked part-time at the Citgo gas station to occupy his time.
Everyone who knew Nate knew he was a kindhearted person. He loved family and wanted to always hang out with family. He loved a delicious home cooked meal (Neck bones with mac and cheese to be exact). He was a sports fanatic to say the least. He loved the Baltimore Orioles and Maryland Terrapins no doubt, but his favorite team was the Baltimore Ravens. He was a diehard Ravens fan bleeding purple and black. He adorned those colors from head to toe any chance he could!
Nate is preceded in death by his stepfather, Frederick D. Lanier.
He leaves to cherish his memory: mother, Bettie J. Lanier; one son, Tavon N. Perry; two sisters: Gwendolyn Mayo (Louis) and Fredericka Poindexter (Mark); one brother: Darren Perry (Vanessa); three stepsisters: Vera Graham; Glenda Stith (Rodney); Joann Moore (Roy); two granddaughters: Katelyn and Kristen Perry of Baltimore, MD; three aunts: Addie Reives; Cathryn Cornelius; Margie Reives; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and a special friend Tanita Barrow and a second mother “Edna Foushee”.
