Mrs. Narva Novella Nettles, age 87 of Moncure, NC transitioned into eternal rest on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill, NC.
On November 12, 1933, Mrs. Narva “Novella” Nettles was born in Chatham County, North Carolina to the parents of Mrs. Cora Dowdy Perry and Mr. Herbert Cornelius Perry. Her Husband, Mr. Clinton Robert Alfred Nettles, known as “Clint” preceded her in death in 2016.
She leaves to mourn three daughters, Diane Wilhelmina Dixon of Siler City, NC, Saundra Louise Nettles, Moncure, NC and Leslie N. Green, Moncure, NC; granddaughter, Jonelle Nettles Smith (Wayne) of Siler City, NC; four grandsons, Brian Cornelius Green, Moncure, NC, Reginald Leon Green, Durham, NC, Charles Maurice Dixon, Siler City, NC, and Shawn Manteo Dixon, Siler City, NC; a special son Michael Duhart, Greensboro, NC; great grandson Eric Devone Smith; great great grandchildren Eric Reign Smith, Logan Marie Dixon, Zion Tru Smith, and Xavier Deshawn Dixon; special daughters Emma Scott Smith, Novella Michelle Alston and Nicole Smith; sister in law, Ovelma Nettles Williams, Moncure, NC; brother in law, William Augusta Nettles (Cozetta) Washington, DC, and sister in law, Ida Cotton, Moncure, NC; a special friend, Cierra McEachern and a great host of nieces, nephews and cousins that she loved dearly and individually.
Novella, retired from Townsends Poultry Processing Plant in Pittsboro, NC. She was an active Member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. Novella served faithfully as the Adult Class Sunday School Teacher and Dedicated Usher for many years. President Emeritus of the Missionary Department and Active Treasurer. She enjoyed teaching Summer Vacation Bible School and several young people gave their lives to Christ. Novella, was also actively serving as 3rd Vice President of Deep River Baptist Association Woman Auxiliary.
Many people loved Novella as they did Clinton. Her community service and friendship with her nieces and nephews meant a lot to her. She served her brothers and sisters and was a friend to their children. She also had many friends and relationships with the Neighbors in Moncure and she was no stranger in Pittsboro. Novella and her friends at Curves formed a bond of Love. Some of them still visited her occasionally and she would go with them to a monthly lunch. Her youthful spirit and encouraging outlook drew many young adults to her for counsel and fun. No matter what your dream, she always said have a relationship with the Lord, go to church and don’t hesitate to Go For It. No one could say that she was a Dream Killer but an Uplifter and an unlicensed preacher to all who came in contact with her.
She Will Be Missed by Many and Her Influence Will Live On In Our Lives.
