Obituary

Minnie Ruby Owens Judd, the beloved daughter of the late Jerry Owens, Sr. and the late Metres Ray Owens, was born June 17, 1947, at Lee County Hospital in Sanford, North Carolina. She peacefully transitioned from this life on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford, North Carolina, at the age of 78.

Minnie was raised and educated in Harnett County, where she developed a strong foundation of values that guided her throughout her life. She proudly graduated from Johnsonville High School in 1965. As she moved beyond her years of formal education, Minnie's life became deeply anchored in her Christian faith. Minnie was a devoted member of White Oak Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully served for many years. She was an active member of the choir and held the role of president of the kitchen committee, combining her love for music, service, and cooking until her health declined. Her dedication to her church and her willingness to serve wherever she was needed reflected the depth of her faith and her servant's heart. Her gentle spirit and sweet personality left an enduring impression on all who knew and loved her.

Minnie was preceded in death by two sisters, Willa O. Kelly and Mattie O. Shoffner; and four brothers, James C. Owens, Roosevelt Owens, Jerry Owens, Jr., and Isiah Owens.

Minnie leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving husband, Carlester Judd, of the home; one daughter, Ebony Judd of Cary, North Carolina; one stepdaughter, Carla Judd; step-grandchildren, Angelica NeLaughn and Marquez Cassidy, all of Asheboro, North Carolina; three sisters, Margaret Dixon of St. Albans, New York, Doretha Nelson of Broadway, North Carolina, Cleo Bryant of Sanford, North Carolina; one brother, Ezekiel Owens (Annie) of Lillington, North Carolina; sisters-in-law, Rebecca Smith of Raleigh, North Carolina, Dorthy Burnette of Greensboro, North Carolina, Mattie Lee Judd of Brooklyn, New York; brothers-in-law, James Judd and Alvester Judd, both of Brooklyn, New York; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whom she loved dearly.
