Mr. Melvin Tyrone Briggs, age 71, of Sanford, North Carolina, entered eternal rest on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at his residence.

The impact he had on those around him will forever resonate, and his legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace.
Melvin’s hobbies were: he kept a smile on his face, enjoyed westerns, loved to drive his pastor and others, enjoyed traveling, hosting cookouts with friends and family, singing in the men’s choir and cutting the grass. He also enjoyed attending sports events with grandkids, he embraced the role with grace and devotion, serving as a steadfast father figure to those God placed in his life. His guidance, love, and faith-filled presence left a lasting Imprint on the hearts of many.
Melvin preceded with death by his siblings: Lillian Wheeler, Howard Wheeler, Diane Barksdale, Dorothy Dickerson Dandridge (Danny Boy) Dickerson, Andrew (Sunny) Dickerson, Loretta Cox, Clarence Barksdale Jr., Esther Ware, Butch Coleman, and Mary Weathers.
He is survived by his wife, Crematine Briggs; stepdaughter, Crystal Newkirk of the home (Lillington); one stepdaughter, Lakishia Newkirk of Fayetteville, NC; one stepson, John Stewart of Sanford, NC; granddaughter, Aniah Stewart of Spring Lake, NC; Xavier Patterson, and Zaire Patterson, grandsons of the home (Lillington, NC); a special granddaughter, Heaven Newkirk; one sister, Stephanie Wall; one brother, Donald Briggs (Dawn); stepmother, Momma Bessie Wall; stepbrother, Steven Wall; sisters-in-law, Donna Kelly of Lillington, NC, Lawanda McDougald of Lillington, NC, Jean Harris (Clyde) of Lillington, NC, and Julia Griffin of Lillington, NC; brother-in-law, Shelton Kelly (Juanita) of Spring Lake, NC; a special niece, Sheila Dickerson-Brooks (Edward); a riding partner, Sherman Baker of Sanford, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
