Mary Alma (Becton) Tanksley

Ms. Mary Alma (Becton) Tanksley, age 80 of Sanford, NC entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at her residence.

Mary Alma Tanksley, age 80, passed away on October 21, 2023, peacefully at home in Sanford, North Carolina. She was born on August 22, 1943, in Aulander, North Carolina, to the late Clarine Coldwell Becton and Clyde Becton.

Mary had the most beautiful spirit and a smile that could light up anyone's troubled day. She was known for her kind words, warm hugs, and kisses. Mary was always ready to lend a helping hand and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren's kids and other family members. She loved to sing and listen to gospel music and would call the local radio station to have them play gospel songs for her. She was a cherished member of Christian Provision Ministries church.

In her career, Mary was a hard worker. She served as an X-ray technician at Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia and also worked at Sanford Health and Rehabilitation in dietary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Becton and Clarine Coldwell Becton, her husband Douglas Tanksley, and her daughter Silva Johnson.

Mary is survived by her brother, Clyde Becton, and her grandchildren: Kerry Johnson (Lakeya), Maurice Johnson (Latoshia), and Elicia Johnson. She is also survived by great-grandchildren: Chere' Johnson, Lakerra Johnson, Aaliyah Johnson, Journe' Johnson, Layla Johnson, Maurice Johnson Jr., Erica Johnson, Kinsley Johnson, Keziya Bass, Kanisa Bass, Emyiah Jacobs, Jameion Johnson, Jasiya Johnson, Jason Spears, and Jakhobe Spears. Additionally, Mary is survived by her great-great-grandchildren: Kaliyah and Kamre' Donaldson.
