Mary Estelle Simmons Lowery was born on June 20,1951 in North Hampton County. She departed this life on June 25, 2021. She was the daughter of Johnnie Simmons and Susie Hunt Mayo.
Preceded in death by her parents and son David Charles Everette. Mary attended Northampton County Schools where she grew up. She joined Rose Hill at an early age. She became a member of Flat Creek Missionary Baptist Church and due to health reasons and to be closer to home, she joined Increasing Faith Deliverance Ministries in Sanford, NC.
Mary had many business endeavors. She was the owner of two companies: M&M Grill, and Pearidge Grill. Mary was also employed by Daniels Construction Company, Mayflower Trucking Company, Cury Company, Shearon Harris, and many more others.
Mary was gifted in so many areas like crafting and cooking, but her gift of singing was the greatest gift she was affectionally known for. Her voice was so powerful and anointed, she touched so many lives with her angelic voice.
Mary was a national recording artist signed to New Vision Records. She recorded her first solo album in 1994 entitled, “Living My Life for the Master”. She later added “Company”, which consisted of background singers and a band. Her second album was entitled, “I’m Not the Same”, in 1995. She traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad opening for major gospel artists. Mary released her last album in 1997. She was also afforded the opportunity to sing for the Queen of Nassau Bahamas.
She leaves to cherish her special friend, Mr. Leon Hooker; her children, Mary Jeanette Crump of the home, John Howard Everette (Iris) of Fuquay Varina, NC; and William Everett of Raleigh, NC; her sister Jackie Baker; grandchildren, Alliyah Everette, Jordan Benson, Davon Everette, Carrington Everette, and Jayden Everette; nephews, Andre Hunt, and Moreece Allen; nieces Christian Allen and Iesha Hunt; special cousins, Betty Holder, Germeka Mayo, and Travis Mayo; goddaughter, Lashelle Crump and a host of other relatives and friends.
