Mary Lee (Thomas) Smith

Mrs. Mary Lee Thomas Smith, age 66 of Sanford, NC transitioned into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford NC.

Mary Lee Thomas Smith was born on July 30, 1955, in Chatham County, NC to the late Willie Lee Thomas and Tina Mae Toomer Thomas. She departed this life on November 10, 2021, at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford, NC.

Mary graduated from Northwood High School in 1973. After graduation, she was employed at Lufkin, Apex, NC.

Mary joined Liberty Chapel Church, Moncure, NC at an early age. She was a faithful member until her health declined. She attended Tuesday Noon day Prayer, served on the Usher Board, and worked faithfully with the Missionary Department.

Mary was preceded in death by her father, Willie Lee Thomas; mother, Tina Mae Thomas; brothers, Mervin Lee Thomas and James Earnest Thomas.

Mary leaves to cherish in loving memories: husband, Barry D. Smith; son, Michael Smith, Sanford, NC; three sisters, Flonnie Spears (Charles), Sanford, NC, Sandra Mae Thompson, Goldston, NC, and Amy Ramsey (Montaray), Ramseur, NC; four sisters in law, Linda Thomas, Moncure, NC, Shirlene Thomas, Brown Hill, NC, Rose Smith (Wallace), Siler City, NC, and Angela Heilig (Wayne), Sanford, NC;  and a god brother, Precious Smith (Alice).

Mary also leaves to cherish in loving memories: two special nieces:  Alexia Shadai Cotton and Simone Burgess; god sons:  Rodney Cotton, Jr., and Landy Gill; three god daughters:  Samantha Ward, Michelle Graham and Janet Cameron; four god sisters:  Shirley Cotton, Naomie Harris, Shelia Piggie and Lisa Johnson; special aunt, Robena McCrimmon and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
