Ms. Martha Patience (Taylor) Henry, age 81, of Pittsboro, NC, transitioned to eternal rest on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at her residence.

In Loving Memory of Martha Patience Taylor Henry

Martha Patience Taylor Henry, age 81, of Pittsboro, North Carolina, gained her heavenly wings at her home on the evening of January 7, 2026.  A beloved Mother, Nana, Sister, Aunt and Cousin will always be remembered for her kindness.

Martha lovingly known as “Bit” was born on July 11, 1944, in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Isaiah E. Taylor and the late Laura E. Taylor. Martha was the baby of four children Isaiah E Taylor II aka Sonny, Richard E Taylor aka Chu-Chi and Phyllis A Edwards aka Teach.  She was educated at Horton High School where she graduated with the Class of 1962. 

She continued her education at North Carolina Central University and then on to Durham Technical Community College, where she received her Associate’s Degree in Business Administration.  Martha was an active member of Mt. Sinai AME Church where she served as Women’s Missionary Society, Usher board and later the Senior Choir.

On November 4, 1967, Martha married Horace E.A. Henry this union yielded two children Nicole E A Henry-Myrie and Malcolm E.A. Henry.

Throughout her working years, she was known for her dedication, professionalism, and warm spirit. She was employed at Mercantile in Manhattan, New York, and after moving back to NC in 1987 she then worked at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, until she retired.   After retirement she continued to work as a CNAII at Galloway Ridge at Fearrington in Pittsboro, North Carolina until her health began to deteriorate.

Martha will be remembered for her kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering love for her family, friends and church. She leaves to cherish her memory her two children, Nicole E.A. Henry-Myrie and Malcolm E. A. Henry; one beloved granddaughter, Neah A. Henry; bonus grandchildren, Kadijah Atkins, Jasmine Atkins, Jordan Drum, Axzavor Dill, nephews Isaiah E Taylor III, and Milton Taylor as well as a host of other relatives and dear friends.

Martha was preceded in death by her father Isaiah E. Taylor Sr., her mother Laura E Taylor her brother Richard E Taylor aka Chu-Chi and her nephew Christopher Taylor.  Her presence, love, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
