Mrs. Marie Catherine McLaughlin, age 84 of Greensboro, NC (formerly of Robbins, NC) transitioned into eternal rest Wednesday, May 27, 2020, from Maple Grove Nursing Rehabilitation Center, Greensboro, NC.
A Mini-Biography
Marie Catherine Petty McLaughlin was born September 29th, 1935 in Goldston, North Carolina, to the late Doris Irene Petty and to Claude Chalmers. On May 27th, 2020, with a satisfied long life she sought permanent shelter with the Most High.
Growing up in Goldston, Catherine attended Goldston Colored (J.S. Waters) High School and Thompson Chapel Methodist Church. In 1953 she was united in Holy matrimony with Jesse J. McLaughlin and took up residence in High Falls, NC, where she became a lifelong dedicated member of New Ben Salem Missionary Baptist Church, serving as deaconess, secretary/clerk, usher board president, and choir member/leader. In 2000, along with her husband, she relocated to Greensboro, NC, supporting several churches, always demonstrating a great love for God, family, loved ones, and for people. A loving person, never meeting a stranger, a songstress at heart, Catherine, was always allowing her “Light [to] Shine,” to those around her. (Matt 5:16)
Those who preceded her to Eternity were her Husband, Jesse, her Mom, Irene, her Sisters, Carolyn & Faye, and her Brother, John Lee; and, a Host of Extended Family & Friends.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Her Children, Felecia (Steve) Brewington, Vanessa (Chris) Davis, James McLaughlin (Jeffrey Lammers), Alex (Bobbie) McLaughlin, Bernita (Ray) Jones, and Jada (Antoine) Dargan; She also leaves four Grandchildren Tori, Tarren, Alexis, Bobby Alexander; two Great-Grandchildren, Takoda and Bailey; a Sister, Trina (Melvin) Johnson; and, a Host of Loving Relatives and Friends.
Catherine loved well, lived well, and was loved well. So, ALL IS WELL.
