Ms. Margaret Lorraine Johnson, age 68, of Mebane, North Carolina entered eternal rest on Monday, November 6, 2023.
We have been blessed to have Lorraine as a part of our life. She was a great example of how to overcome illness and how to endure pain without complaining. We know that Lorrain battled illnesses many years and some thought she would not be here 40 years later, what a great testimony that God always has the last say.
In addition to being a fighter, Lorrain was also a good sister, a good aunt and a good friend. She was generous with her money; her mom would say “Too generous”. But that came from her mom who believes in helping other people and sharing what you got. Another example of her generosity is that she would take people into her home wherever she lived. She loved to cook and would feed anybody.
But the most important thing we want you to know about Lorrain is that before she left this world…. She gave her life to Christ.
Lorrain was educated in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro school systems and graduated from McKinney, Texas. She worked for over 30 years as a cashier in various businesses in the surrounding towns.
Lorrain’s life made a difference in this world.
Lorrain was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Spencer; her adoptive parents, John and Ida Craig Johnson; brothers, Julius Toomer, Bobby Charles Spencer and Chris Johnson.
Those who will cherish her memory are her mother, Betsey Noell of Mebane, N.C.; sisters Deidra Toomer of Chapel Hill, N.C. Deloris Stancil (Robert) of Ellerbe, N.C., Gloria Goines (Fred) of Norman, N.C., Malinda Spencer (Chris) of Greensboro, N.C., Jacqueline Spencer of Ellerbe, N.C., Joyce Toomer, Shorron Toomer and Terry Toomer all of Durham, N.C., Cathy Scurlock (Tim) of Pittsboro, N.C., Gloria Lunsford (Leroy) of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Sandra Johnson of Chapel Hill, N.C.; brothers Floyd Ingram, Johnnie Johnson (Brenda) of Chapel Hill, N.C., Rodney Noell and Anthony Noell of Mebane, N.C., Shawn Alston of Durham, N.C., Shawn Fuller of Hillsborough, N.C. and Gilbert Spencer (Marzine) of Ellerbe, N.C. Also holding loving memories are her aunts, Lela Allen of Hickory, N.C., Martha Terell (Carnell) of Pittsboro, N.C., Frances “Peggy” Ingram and Mary Ingram of Chapel Hill, N.C. A very special friend, Mr. James Wilkerson of Durham N.C., a loyal cousin, Genise Ingram of Durham, N.C., and Chandra Riley of Graham, N.C. And a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family.
