Mrs. Margaret Mable McLean Cotton, age 77 transitioned into eternal rest, Saturday, March 27, 2021, at her residence.

The Deceased’s Life Details

Margaret Mable McLean Cotton was born December 8, 1943 to late Lonzie McLean and Ailene Buie Mclean in Harnett County, North Carolina.  She departed her life on March 27, 2021 at her home.  Mable was educated at the Norrington School in Harnett County, North Carolina. She was a stay-at-home mother and later attended Central Carolina Technical College and received her Certificate as a Nurse’s Aide III and worked for years as an Aide.  

She was a member at Moore Union Church in Broadway NC at a young age and later in life joined St. Mark United Church of God and was a faithful member until her death.  Mother Cotton was loving, caring, and a friend to anyone she met. She will be remembered for cooking and willing to help anyone she could.  She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. She helped raise her as she say her boys (Shakir & DaJohne).  She loved God and her family and prayed and had encouraging word for anyone.  

She was united in marriage with Roy L. Cotton Sr. on September 11, 1960.  To this union five children were born.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lonzie and Ailene McLean; eight brothers: Lonzo, Luke Albert, Amos, Andy, Will, Willis, George Allen, and John Allen McLean; four sisters, Carrie Lee McLean, Betsy Lee, Annie Lee, and Mary Floyd.

She leaves to cherish precious memories: two sons, Calvin McLean (Lisa) of Sanford, and Roy Cotton Jr. (Linda) Sanford NC; four daughters, Denise McLean of Apex NC, Shirley Cotton-Lyles (Ricky) of Sanford NC, Catherine Cotton-Aarons (Leonard) of Hope Mills NC,  and Qu’Shonda Cotton of Fayetteville NC; grandchildren-Omar Baylor, Tashima Mclean, Nicole McLean, Katrina McLean, DeAngela McLean, Melissa Cotton, Tempest Cotton, Nasya Stanley, Desiree West, Keisha West, Ricky West, and Shawanna Cotton; great-grandchildren-Reakwon McLean, Xavier Mclean, Shakir Cotton, DaJohne Cotton, Alexis Mclean, Georian McLean Tylashia Burch, Tylen Burch, Tahiry Burch, Josiah Cotton, Tremaine Cotton, Josiah McLean, PJ McLean, Shannon Upchurch, Royalte Upchurch, and Chozen McKoy; great-great grandchild- Maxtyne Cotton; a special niece Shiela Witcher, a special son Rocky Vincent; one goddaughter Minister Linda Graham; a special niece, Bertha Mae Dill; a special friend Jeweldine Marks; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends that she loved.
