Maggie Lee (Richmond) Newby

Mrs. Maggie Lee Richmond Newby, age 94 of Sanford, NC transitioned into eternal rest at her residence.

Maggie Lee Richmond Newby, daughter of the late George and Maggie McLean Richmond, was born on April 11, 1928. On Easter Sunday morning, Jesus came by and gave her wings.

She was preceded in death by her husband Silas Lee Newby, and a daughter Cynthia Anne Newby. Maggie was the last child of the Richmond children.

Maggie was a member of Tempting Congregational Church. After marrying Silas, she joined Poplar Springs A.M.E Church, where she was a faithful member. She worked as a church secretary, missionary, Lay President, steward, stewardess, Class Leader, and Sunday School Teacher; just to name a few.

She leaves to cherish her memories five sons: Mr. Willie F. Newby (Wanda), Mr. Silas E. Newby (Laverne), Mr. Henry Lee Newby (Lorraine), Mr. Clyde Newby (Ola Faye), and Ralph Newby (Freda); one daughter, Gervis Kelly (Paul), all of Sanford, NC. She also leaves 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
