Lula Mae (Taylor) Gill

Lula Mae Taylor Gill, age 80 passed on Friday, June 19, 2020 at Chatham Commons Assisted Living, Cary, NC.

Lula Mae Gill (Taylor) was born November 22, 1939 in Chatham County, NC to the late John Pomp and Rosie Williams Taylor. She departed this life on June 19, 2020 at Chatham Commons in Cary, NC.

Lula attended W.B Wicker High School while growing up in North Carolina. She loved listening to music, baking, singing, and spending time with her family. The family worshipped at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Moncure, NC and Mt. View AME Zion Church in Moncure, NC.

Lula left North Carolina as a young adult and moved to Washington, DC with her late husband, Samuel Gill. Then she moved to Yonkers, NY to join her sisters, Alma Taylor and Juriel Harris. In Yonkers, she worked as a homemaker for many years while raising her two daughters.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Juriel Taylor Harris and Alma Lee Taylor;  two brothers, John D. Taylor and James L. Taylor.

She leaves to mourn two daughters, Brenda Gill Garrett (Michael), Yonkers, NY; and Mia Gill, Townsend, DE. Two grandchildren, Tianna Garrett and Ronald Hutchison (Shelby). One great grandchild, Carter Jae Hutchison; One sister, Mazarene Chambers of Sanford NC; and a special host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
