Louis Williams Obituary

Mr. Louis Williams, age 74, of Sanford, NC, entered eternal rest on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Duke Hospice, Hock Family Pavilion, Durham, NC.

With love and gratitude for a well-lived life, Louis Williams departed this life on June 12, 2026, at the age of 74.

Louis was born on August 23, 1951, to the late Linel Williams, Sr., and Mary Williams. He attended W.B. Wicker School and later worked for the City of Sanford for several years.

Louis had a deep love for music and was especially gifted at playing the bongos. He began playing with the gospel group The Williams Brothers, which later became known as The Sanfordaires. Music was one of his greatest passions, and he especially enjoyed listening to the blues. He was also a devoted fan of the Washington Redskins, faithfully supporting his team through the years.

Louis touched the lives of many through his kindness, strength, and unwavering spirit. He was a devoted family member, trusted friend, and respected member of his community. His presence brought laughter, joy, and humor to everyone blessed to know him. He will always be remembered for his warm heart, gentle nature, and the love he shared so freely with his family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his three children: Kenneth McGee of Sanford, North Carolina; Lamarus Williams (Tamara) of Oklahoma; and Latoya Williams of Oklahoma.

He is also survived by his siblings: two brothers, Linel Williams, Jr. (Pearlie) of Carolina Trace, North Carolina, and Roosevelt Williams of Sanford, North Carolina; and six sisters, Josie Womble, Mary Royal, Jeanette Houston, Linda Ware, Elizabeth Ware, Lela Christian, and Rosa Mae Wiley (Ed), all of Sanford, North Carolina. Louis also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, a special grandson KJ, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. He held a special place in his heart for his devoted niece and caregiver, Sheena Royal, who lovingly cared for him for 15 years.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carrie Williams; his parents, Linel Williams, Sr., and Mary Williams; his beloved grandson, Brandon Matthews; and his bonus daughter, Charisma Hooper.

The family would also like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Ashley Lewis for her unwavering love, compassion, and support. During Louis's stay at Hospice House, Ashley made sure he always had a familiar and caring face by his side when family members were unable to be there. Her kindness and dedication will never be forgotten.
