Mr. Lonnie Edward Durham, Jr., age 62 of Sanford, NC transitioned to eternal rest on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Raleigh Duke Hospital in Raleigh, NC. 

The Obituary

Mr. Lonnie Edward Durham, Jr., affectionately called “Butch” gained his wings on December 15, 2024, at 2:32pm at Duke Raleigh Hospital Raleigh NC., surrounded by family and friends.

Lonnie was born February 25, 1962, to the late Lonnie Edward Durham Sr. and Lucy Ann Durham.

Lonnie attended Lee Senior High School and went on to work numerous jobs throughout the years. He later found his passion in truck driving and in the late 90’s he started Durham's Trucking Company, where he ran his own trucking company until his health declined.  Lonnie was the President of the Knight Cruisers Motorcycle Club. He served with Brick City Lodge 688. His kindness extended beyond his family and friends. He didn’t mind helping others and was known for his joking ways.

His saying was: “I’m doing the best I can with what I’ve got to work with.”

He was preceded in death by his Sister Deborah Durham and Baby girl Durham. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of forty-nine years, Melrose McGilveary Durham; two daughters, Sondra Durham and Tanasha Durham of Sanford, NC; one son, Lonnie Durham of Greensboro, NC; one sister, Rosa Durham of Sanford, NC; grandchildren, Jaime Stakermann, Lonnie Durham, Jabahri Durham, Le’Lani Durham, Nolan Durham, Brielle Durham, Kaleb Durham, Kholten Durham, Kash Durham, Karter Durham, Kairie, and Kali; one aunt, Sadie Brown-Smith of Detroit, MI; one uncle, Laymond Brown of Sanford, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
